New Hampshire Movers – New Ways to Save

New Hampshire movers

Because New Hampshire is located squarely in the heart of New England, your move to this charming state is likely to be quite expensive. Unless you’re moving from the North East, chances are good that you’ll have a rather long distance to travel to your new home in New Hampshire. Fortunately, there are some ways in which you can help defray the cost of your move. Follow the tips below to save money on your New Hampshire movers.

  1. Shop around. Whether you're moving to a large city like Manchester or to a small town like Barrington, the best way to ensure that you’re getting a good deal is to compare moving quotes between different New Hampshire movers. Keep in mind that if one quote seems too good to be true, it probably is. Likewise, if one moving quote seems outrageously high, it’s probably unnecessary to choose that mover (but it’s still worthwhile to check if that moving quote includes fees that might be hidden in other moving quotes).
  2. Move on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Movers are generally available during the middle of the week because most people prefer to move around the weekend. If you’re looking to save money on your move, ask your New Hampshire movers if they’ll reduce the price for a midweek move.
  3. Move in the middle of the month. Because most rental contracts are anchored around the start or finish of the month, most people prefer to move around the time that their contract expires. Many movers are therefore willing to reduce their rates on moves that occur in the middle of the month.
  4. Don’t pay for packing. You can save a bundle on your moving expenses by packing your own books, clothing, toys and other non-fragile items. You may be tempted to hire your movers to pack for you to reduce the stress of the move, but chances are that the stress of this expense will balance out the relaxation that this luxury will bring.
  5. ‘Downsize’ your belongings. There’s absolutely no need to spend money to move something that you don’t love or something that won’t fit into your new home. Consider selling anything you don’t want to take with you either online or at a garage sale. Or, donate unwanted items, sell your furniture or give away your unneeded things to friends and family. Not only can you receive some money in the process but you’ll save money by not having to pay for moving these things.
  6. Don’t pack liquids. Not only will you reduce your load by leaving liquids at home, but you’ll reduce the risk of spillage and damage to your other belongings. Such damage will cost significantly more than the cost of replacing your liquids upon arrival in New Hampshire.
  7. Don’t scrimp on insurance. Your New Hampshire movers may explain to you that minimal insurance coverage will reduce the cost of your move – but don’t be fooled. Investing in proper moving insurance to cover the full value of your belongings is a critical way to ensure that you don’t face steep replacement costs in the event of damage or loss.
