Getting to and from Duluth

You might as well include a flight in your moving plans. The Duluth International Airport is about six miles from the center of town, whereas the airport serving Minneapolis-St. Paul is roughly 154 miles away by car. Numerous smaller airports lie between these two regions, but lack commercial passenger flights. You could get to either airport by taking Interstate 35, which continues south until Laredo, Texas. Or if you’re coming from the suburbs of Duluth, take Minnesota State Highway 33 for its 19.7 mile stretch starting at I-35 in Cloquet and goes all the way to Independence.

As for other destinations you could drive to from Duluth, or vice versa:

• Duluth is near the middle of U.S. Route 53, which goes all the way from the I-90 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to U.S. 71 in International Falls, Minnesota, at the Canadian border.
• U.S. Route 2 includes Duluth in a 2,119 mile stretch from I-5 in Everett, Washington to I-75 in St. Ignace, Michigan.
